autonomous cloud enterprise ecosystems increasingly depend on artificial intelligence (AI), application programming interfaces (APIs), microservices, containers, serverless computing, and distributed data platforms to automate business and operational processes. While these technologies improve scalability, responsiveness, and efficiency, they also create complex cybersecurity challenges. Traditional security approaches based primarily on static rules, perimeter controls, and periodic assessments are insufficient for environments in which software agents, APIs, workloads, and cloud resources can dynamically create, modify, and communicate with one another. AI-powered cybersecurity offers an opportunity to address these challenges through continuous monitoring, behavioral analytics, automated threat detection, predictive risk assessment, and adaptive response. At the same time, secure API governance is essential because APIs constitute major communication and control pathways within contemporary cloud ecosystems. Weak authentication, excessive privileges, insecure configurations, inadequate inventory management, and insufficient monitoring can expose autonomous enterprise systems to significant attacks. This essay examines how AI-powered cybersecurity and secure API governance can be integrated to protect autonomous cloud enterprise ecosystems and operations. It reviews existing literature concerning cloud security, AI-based threat detection, zero-trust architectures, API security, and autonomous systems; proposes a research methodology for evaluating an integrated governance framework; and argues that effective cybersecurity requires combining intelligent security analytics with identity-centric API governance, continuous risk assessment, policy automation, human oversight, and organizational accountability
