Design and Analysis of an Adaptive Radome Surface to Minimize Bird Impact Damage

Bird strikes remain a critical concern in aviation, posing serious risks to aircraft safety, structural integrity, and operational efficiency. This study presents the design and analysis of an adaptive radome surface integrated with a bird deflection system to mitigate the impact of bird collisions. The proposed system combines aerodynamic design, smart materials, and numerical simulation techniques to reduce impact stresses while maintaining radar transparency. Computational methods such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) are employed to evaluate structural performance and airflow characteristics. The results indicate significant improvements in impact resistance, airflow efficiency, and overall aircraft safety compared to conventional radome designs.
